Porto Rotondo is a hamlet in the municipality of Olbia, known as Poltu Ridundu in Sardinian. Together with Porto Cervo, it is one of the island’s most important tourist destinations, favored by Italian and international stars and celebrities.

Porto Rotondo, a town steeped in culture
Its origins date back to 1964, when the Venetian brothers Luigi and Nicolò Donà dalle Rose decided to establish the village and its harbour, which has continued to operate successfully throughout the decades. Their idea was to create a meeting place for artists and intellectuals who, once there, could help make the town beautiful, cultured and prosperous.
And that is exactly what happened. Today, Porto Rotondo is home to a large number of works of art created by prominent artists, including sculptors Andrea Cascella and Giancarlo Sangregorio. Cascella designed Piazzetta San Marco, one of the main meeting points for visitors, while Sangregorio created the square in the Vecchia Darsena, the old harbour traditionally associated with local fishermen.
Over the years, Porto Rotondo has welcomed a constant flow of painters, sculptors and intellectuals, and the town continues to make every effort to maintain exceptionally high artistic and cultural standards. A perfect example is the mosaic created in Via del Molo in 2007, known as the “food chain”, by Breton artist Emmanuel Chapalain.
To further attract visitors, the town has developed beautiful timeshare properties, comfortable residences and spectacular villas which, every year, welcome more than 32,000 people in August alone. During the low season, however, the permanent population is around one thousand residents, mostly elderly people who were born and raised in Porto Rotondo.

Among the highlights are the Church of San Lorenzo, located in the heart of Piazzetta San Marco, and the picturesque harbour, where many famous personalities arrive by boat to begin their dream holidays.
